{"id":739,"date":"2022-04-05T13:08:12","date_gmt":"2022-04-05T11:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rijekaoutdoor.com\/cms\/information\/jelenje\/"},"modified":"2022-08-03T21:15:21","modified_gmt":"2022-08-03T19:15:21","slug":"jelenje","status":"publish","type":"information","link":"https:\/\/rijekaoutdoor.com\/en\/information\/jelenje\/","title":{"rendered":"Jelenje"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>A journey to the past<\/strong> &#8211; The speech of the indigenous population is the Chakavian speech of Grobnik, which was declared a protected intangible cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jelenje is located just 15 kilometres from Rijeka, a karst area at an altitude of around three hundred meters, which is the reason for its Mediterranean-continental climate. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Parish Church of St. Michael is the oldest and biggest building of historical and cultural significance in the Jelenje Municipality.&nbsp; From the rich and carefully preserved tradition in Jelenje, which you will find comfortable and easy to journey through, we would like to emphasize the milkmaids (mlikarice) &#8211; women who have historically carried milk daily to sell in Rijeka. A special event has been dedicated to them in May \u2013 \u201cA Lantern that has left its mark\u201d (Feral ki je pu\u0161\u0107al sinjal).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Dra\u017eice there has been a \u201ckova\u010dija\u201d for more than 70 years &#8211; the only blacksmith shop with its space preserved in its original form and today part of the tourist offer of Jelenje.
